Primary Science Quality Mark Award
We are very proud to announce that Minster Church of England Primary School is now a Primary Science Quality Marked School!
We are proud to be one of 300 schools across the country to be awarded the nationally recognised Primary Science Quality Mark. The Primary School Quality Mark programme ensures effective leadership of science, enables schools to work together to share good practice, and is supported by professional development led by local experts. It encourages teacher autonomy and innovation while at the same time offering a clear framework for development in science subject leadership, teaching and learning. Schools that achieve PSQM demonstrate commitment and expertise in science leadership, teaching and learning. The Primary Science Quality Mark is led by the University of Hertfordshire.
Helen Sizer, PSQM Co-Director said: ‘By enabling effective science leadership, PSQM is powering the potential of all children to see the relevance and importance of science in their lives, now and in the future. Schools that have achieved a Primary Science Quality Mark have demonstrated a significant commitment to science leadership, teaching and learning and the profile and quality of science in each accredited school is very high. Science subject leaders, their colleagues, headteachers, children, parents and governors should be very proud.”
Our School Science Vision
At Minster CEP, we want our children to link learning to their own values and beliefs. Our science vision is made from the views of our children, collected through a pupil voice survey, as well as ideas and views of our staff. Pupils and staff were asked the question "What does good science look like in our school?" and from this our vision document was created. We wanted to make our vision document child friendly, as this is now displayed in all classrooms and on our science learning materials.
