THE ADVENT SLEEPOVER CHALLENGE

In January a group from the church slept in tents in the churchyard to raise money to run shelters in the area to give homeless people a hot meal and bed for a night. The aim was also to raise awareness of the homeless crisis in the local community. The challenge is organised by the Church Urban Fund. We were appalled at the thought of people having to sleep rough every night, without the luxury we had of a hot meal and knowing that we could return to our comfortable beds the night after.

We are organising another sleepout on December 6th.
 
I would be really grateful to anyone who feels they could make a small donation to help this vital work.

FLU VACCINATIONS – forms MUST BE BACK in the Office by end of day tomorrow (Thursday 14^th).  We will be unable to accept any forms after tomorrow.  The nurses will be with us on Monday 18^th to administer the flu vaccine to those children that we have consent for.

 

Year 6 – BIOGRAPHIERS – we will be looking at biographies over the next 2 weeks. 

On Monday, please can Year 6 pupils bring in any suitable biographies to use and share for the next 2 weeks. Similarly, if any suitable biographies could be donated to the school, they would also be very much be appreciated.   

 

REMINDER - CHILDREN IN NEED is this Friday 15^th November.  Children are able to come to school in non-uniform (something spotty)! £1 donations to Children In Need in exchange for non-uniform.

This payment can be made via www.schoolmoney.co.uk.

 

We will also be holding a cake sale on Friday during break time.  Minimum donation of 50p per cake.  Donations of cakes would be very much appreciated.  These can be handed into the Office on Friday morning.  Please remember to label your cake tins/containers so that we can return them to you.

 

SECONDHAND UNIFORM SALE – we will be holding a secondhand uniform sale on Friday 15^th November in the Garden Suite from 3.15pm.  All items can be purchased for a donation towards Children In Need.  If you have any old uniform you wish to donate, please bring into the Office.

 

REMINDER – CHRISTMAS CARD ORDERS – children will have come home this week with their Christmas card designs.  If you would like to place an order, please complete the order form and return with correct monies (cash or cheque) by 20^th November. 

 

MONDAY 18^th NOVEMBER - school photographs are being taken on Monday.  Please ensure your child has their school jumper/cardigan with them to wear for their photos.

 

YEAR 2– PIRATE DAY – Tuesday 19^th November – children are invited to come to school dressed as a pirate.

 

WEDNESDAY 27^th NOVEMBER – NON UNIFORM in exchange for items for Christmas Fair.

 

YEAR 4 – FRIDAY 29^th NOVEMBER – “Music Through the Decades” dress up day.  Children can choose any decade they like and dress in an outfit to match the music being listened to at that time.
