DAILY UPDATE – 2nd DECEMBER 2020

Collection times for the last day of term - Friday 18th December

School will close earlier on the last day of term as it did for the summer. This will enable a thorough deep clean of the school before we shut down for the festive period.

The timings are as follows:

EYFS and Y6 - 1:05pm

Y1 and 2 - 1:10pm

Y3 and 4 - 1:20pm

CHRISTINGLE – KS2 – letter has been emailed out today regarding this. Please remember if you DO NOT WANT your child to be recorded/broadcast via You Tube you must return the slip by Friday 4th December.

CHRISTMAS CARDS – we will be placing Post Boxes outside our classrooms to enable children to place Christmas cards in them. Boxes will only be available for Year groups. Cards need to be in school by Friday 11th December so that they can be distributed as from Monday 14th December.

ANCIENT GREEK DAY – YEAR 3 - Although, it is cancelled at school, watch this space for some virtual activities! Dressing up at home is still welcomed, if you would like.

YEAR 6 - Next week, Year 6 are very excited to be creating wind instruments out of recycled materials for our topic of Hola Mexico!

Could we please request that if you have any materials that may be useful (from the list below), they are brought into school by Friday 4th December for quarantining. The items we would be very grateful to receive are:

· Plastic straws

· Balloons

· Elastic bands

· Kitchen roll tubes or similar (not toilet rolls)

· Plastic bottles

· Any other small, clean recycled goods that are no larger than a shoe box

Thank you. The Year 6 team

GLASSES – a pair of glasses have been found on the All Weather Pitch they have a football, smiley face and dart board emoji on them. If they belong to your child, please give the Office a call.

CHARACTER VIRTUES CHAMPION CHALLENGE – letter was emailed yesterday. We are looking forward to seeing pictures of the children’s cards. Remember deadline for this challenge is Friday 11th December.

YEARS 1&2 – VIRTUAL NATIVITY - Could I please ask that you read this very carefully. ONLY RETURN THE SLIP – IF YOU DO NOT WANT your child to be recorded and broadcast in their role. If this is the case, slips MUST BE returned by Friday 4th December.

YEAR 1 - NATIVITY DAY – Wednesday 16th December – Children will be learning about the Nativity on this day. Children are invited to come to school wearing a Nativity costumer – ie Mary, Joseph, sheep, donkey, star, angel, wiseman or party clothes on this day. Please remember a tea-towel and oversized shirt works perfectly well too as a costume.

PE KITS – due to the change in weather conditions it would now be appropriate for children to have a tracksuit in school for outdoor PE.

YEAR 4 - are going to have their ‘Dancing through the decades disco’ on Thursday 10th December, for their Playlist topic. Children can come in dressed up as any musician of their choice from the 20th-21st century.

COVID - It has been brought to our attention by staff and parents with children in secondary school, that a large proportion of children who have tested positive recently have not displayed 'classic' Covid symptoms. The common denominator has been 'sore throat' & 'headaches/fuzzy head'. As a school we still need to follow the government guidance re. symptoms, but should you have any concerns regarding your child's health at this time, we understand parents erring on the side of caution and confirming via the Covid testing system.

COVID TESTING – a reminder – if a member of your household has to go for a Covid test, please remember that all those within the household MUST self isolate until the results of the Covid test have been received. Please advise us of who the person is going for the test. Children can then return to school once a negative result is received.

COVID-19 RESULTS – could we please ask that before your child/ren return to school after having a Covid test that you notify the Office of the results. Even if the results are negative it is beneficial for us to know prior to your child/ren returning to school.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS – REMINDER email went out last week regarding this. It may well be that now given the current situation with Covid and people being furloughed or loosing their jobs that you now qualify for Free School Meals.

Please take the time if you think you might be eligible to register your child for Free School Meals (it only takes a few minutes). Please do remember that if you are already in receipt of this for one child then your other children may also be eligible for Free School Meals. Those who are eligible and are currently in receipt of Free School Meals will be receiving vouchers during the Christmas holidays to assist with their food shopping. £15 per week per child.

Please be assured that it is entirely confidential and that no other parties are aware of who is in receipt of Free School Meals.

Any assistance that you may be entitled too during this difficult time would be well worth looking into.

END OF DAY COLLECTION – if you have a child/ren who should be isolating, please do not bring them onto our school site when collecting siblings. Thank you.

COVID 19 – should you or a member of your family at anytime need to go for a Covid test. Could we please ask that you notify us as soon as possible of the results. Should this happen over the weekend or out of school hours, please contact 07741 594078
