DAILY UPDATE – 28th September 2020
Covid Update
With the sharp rise in the number of Covid infections nationally we very conscious that we need to keep ‘social distancing’ high on the radar in school and also at the beginning and end of the day – drop off and collection times.
We are very reliant on parents following the guidance set out by the school, when you are on our school site. Your cooperation and support is imperative to ensure the safety for all. Most of our parents are extremely supportive during these challenging times and for this we are extremely grateful. This is not going away anytime soon and we need to ensure that the ‘safe’ new normal is a natural part of collection and drop off, to ensure it doesn’t have a negative impact on the wellbeing of school staff and parents/carers. We don’t want to moan at people – it’s not the way we are used to operating, but we will enforce the school guidance so please assist us by making the procedures second nature. Thank you!
Some things to remember and consider:
Drop off:
-
Remember the ‘Drop and GO’ slogan
-
Please do not loiter by the gate or fence line as this obstructs others – if you can cross over this helps ease congestion even more.
Collection:
-
Please line up and ensure social distancing
-
Do not line up before it is your turn to do so
-
Please be considerate of others - they may have been queuing for a while - DO NOT push in!
-
Remember the ‘Pick-up and GO and keep the flow’ slogan
-
The system is one way and flow needs to be maintained
-
Ensure you distance on exit of the smaller gate – we try to reduce this by letting in a few parents/carers at a time
-
Any discussions with staff need to be had via phone please as this stops the flow
When the rules are followed and parents are on time the system works really well and is very efficient – all children are collected within their time slot and we are good to go with the next group. This wouldn’t be possible without your great support, so thank you for your understanding and the way you have followed the guidance.
Face Masks
With the current spike and the greater emphasis regarding face coverings we would echo the government guidance that suggests that if you are not able to socially distance that you should wear a face covering. If parents want to wear a face covering on pick up they do so with our full support. As yet, our staff are not wearing coverings but in the future they may wish to do so due to the high number of adults that come on site at these times in the day.
To be clear, we are not expecting people to wear face coverings, but we do fully support staff and parents who do at these particular times of the day, particularly if they feel uncomfortable in this situation.
And finally….
We are in strange times and we must all do our bit to ensure we keep transmission to a minimum. Risk management for collection and drop off is considered LOW due to it being outside and people moving quickly through the grounds. We all have to manage our own risks however and should do so by following the guidance, so that everyone is kept as safe as possible.
Thank you for all of your support!
IMPORTANT REMINDER – please ensure that your child comes to school with a coat. As the weather is continually changing it is imperative that your child has a coat with them. All year groups will go out to play even if it is a slight rain shower. Even if the children have a raincoat this can be useful.
FACEBOOK – PARENT LINK – could we please reminder all parents that our Facebook page is there for the positive development of the school and to give a more open window into the day to day school life. We would therefore ask that it is used for positive and supportive comments of the school. Should you have any queries or concerns, please contact the School Office direct between 8.30am and 4pm and they will be more than happy to assist you.
YEAR 5 – PURPLE CLASS - thank you for all of the materials that you have sent in already. Our DT day will be on Wednesday 7th October, so we will willingly receive more materials up until the Monday, to allow for quarantine time.
