Daily Update 10th September 2020
Daily Update – 10/9/20
We are now just over a week into term and it is a good point to reflect on the Covid measures we have in place. With the recent Government release, strengthening the measures in place due to the spike in Covid outbreaks, we need to be even more vigilant and proactive as a school community to ensure we keep the risk as small as possible. Parents can help massively here through their conduct on drop-off and pick-up times. The vast majority of parents have been extremely supportive and have followed the guidance sent out by the school – a big thank you all for kind words, conduct, support and patience with the current measures in place.
Hand Sanitising
We will be using a combination of washing and sanitising for the future. Handwashing time is impacting quite considerably on the learning time in class and we have had to reflect on processes to speed this up. Children will be dispensed alcohol based gel by a member of staff from next week. If there are any allergies to this please let Mrs Elks and the Class Teacher know. Children are also welcome to bring in their own hand sanitiser to further support this. Remember the gel must contain at least 60% alcohol for it to be effective against Covid 19.
Morning Drop-off
We are coining a slogan for this - DROP and GO!
Some parents have taken to socialising around the school gates again. This causes congestion and also, it is very noticeable, that they are not socially distancing. You will be asked to move on politely and to keep your distance. If you want to socialise with other parents, we kindly ask you to do so well away from the front of the school. Thank you.
After School Pick-Up
I have been made aware of some ongoing issues on the entrance gate, so yesterday I positioned myself there instead of the exit gate. I was extremely surprised to have to stop 4 people from pushing through the gate behind me because they didn’t want to queue up. This is not acceptable and is proving extremely frustrating for the vast majority of parents who are following the guidance from the school. Please be respectful of our guidance and follow the rules we have put in place.
Queuing Up – Please do not queue up until it is your turn to do so. People who queue up before their time are creating confusion and hold-ups for other parents.
- At 3pm we should have Year 1 and 2 parents ONLY queuing up.
- All other parents please stand on the other side of the road, allowing for the easy exit of those being collected.
- Year 3 and 4 parents will then be called to queue up to collect their child/ren.
- Year 5 and 6 parents please wait on the other side of the road.
- Year 5 and 6 parents will then be called to queue up and then be able to collect their children.
As a reminder the collection times for your children are as follows:
Year 1 and 2 – 3:00pm
Year 3 and 4 – 3:10pm
Year 5 and 6 – 3:20pm
