PFA Parents and Friends Association

Welcome to this part of the website.  Hopefully I will be able to answer any questions you may have about the PFA.

What do we do?

We raise money by holding events throughout the year to enhance the children’s learning and to make school life more enjoyable!

Who are we?

We are all parents and staff of the school.  The PFA is a registered charity and everybody involved are volunteers.  We usually meet once a month in the evening to organise events or to discuss the teachers “wish list” on how to spend the money raised.

The members are:

  • Zoe Rae
  • Vicky Haswell
  • Susan Daw
  • Kirsty Alentis
  • Amy McCoy

We believe everyone who has a child in school is automatically a member and everyone is welcome to attend the meetings.  How you choose to be involved will depend on you and your circumstances.

How you can help.

There are a number of ways you can help raise the necessary funds for our children:

  • Come to the meetings and help the committee to plan, organise and make decisions.

  • Perhaps you could help with the event i.e. set up, put away, teas and coffees, run a stall.

  • Attend the event. It may be the summer fair or a quiz night.

  • Buy raffle tickets or Christmas cards designed by your child and printed by us.

  • Tell us your ideas for a fundraiser or feed back to us your thoughts on the events to help us improve.

What sort of things do we do to raise money?

School fairs, quiz nights, disco’s, pamper evenings.  Children design their own Christmas cards which you can buy.

What do we spend the money on?

The teachers tell us what they either need or would like to have that perhaps the school budget can’t help with.  Recently we have spent over £2,400 on maths books for every child in school.  We have paid for an author to come in for the day and for one year group we have arranged animals i.e. owls, snakes, scorpions and tarantulas to visit.  At Easter there are Easter egg, hat and garden competitions and we buy prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in each category plus all entries receive a cream egg.

I hope I answered all your questions.  If you would like to be involved, or have a suggestion and would like to contact us please tell the school office and someone will contact you.
